Scoliosis

"Definition of Scoliosis" as in Wikipedia: Scoliosis is a condition that involves complex lateral and rotational curvature and deformity of the spine. It is typically classified as congenital (caused by vertebral anomalies present at birth), idiopathic (sub-classified as infantile, juvenile, adolescent, or adult according to when onset occurred) or as having developed as a secondary symptom of another condition, such as cerebral palsy or spinal muscular atrophy.

(This is not a post on the exact meaning of the clinical condition called scoliosis.. But my association wit it since school!)

1) I took up science and maths after my 10th std and so Biology was one of my main subjects. I ended up doin engineering.. thats a different story all together.. But im glad i did take up biology as a main subject. The word scoliosis has been around since .. probably my 11th std. I did a project on scoliosis.. wit my brother.. who was then in 12th std. And we did a really good job.. for our calibre! :)

2) The word 'scoliosis' was long forgotten and not needed till the beginning of this year, when i had to apply for my higher studies (kinda related to biology u could say).. AND in my SOP, this very word came to my rescue!.. Me gettin an admission to the course im doin now.. was really not likely wit my field of engineering major.. But I did get thru for the course i applied :)

3) Landed up in singapore.. and this same word "Scoliosis" from my mouth, impressed a Professor i suppose.. and it helped me obtain my Dissertation topic under that prof.. hehe.. once again scoliosis to the rescue!

4) Over the last couple of weeks.. i had to get this huge assignment done.. and guess what.. i ended up doin something related to Scoliosis again, but in a different field all together.

All those times i never went out lookin for it intentionally! I ve jus realized its always been part of my study / research.. Strange! I like it tho.. :) My knight in shining armour - Scoliosis.. oops.. its kind of a scary deformity of the spine.. i shudnt write bout it lik this i guess.. Hey.. but there are good operative and non operative corrections for it present in the medical field now a days!.. hmmm.. So much for my knight in shining armour.. he s gettin treated in a hospital somewhere! lol..
